Further, the civic body won’t allow walk-ins even for health and frontline workers on Friday. After a letter from the Centre, the interval between two doses of Covishield has been revised to 12 to 16 weeks from the earlier six to eight weeks.

Booking for vaccination slots for those in the age group of 45 and above started around 9.30 pm on Thursday. The vaccination of those aged between 18 and 44 years stopped at civic and government centres on Thursday and for the rest of the categories, it continued. With limited stocks, most centres at ward levels will administer 100 doses, while jumbo Covid-19 centres and major hospitals will administer 200.  With the civic body not giving doses to the younger lot, the 18-44 years group has been turning to private centres. On Thursday, 6,491 people from the category were vaccinated at four private vaccination centres. The daily average of these centres was around 300 to 400 doses per day. “As of now, private centres can administer vaccines for the age group of 18 to 44 years. It is a paid facility,” said Suresh Kakani, additional municipal commissioner.
