In a fresh controversy, Maharashtra minister and Shiv Sena leader Yogesh Kadam announced on Monday that he intends to bring a privilege notice against Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab. Kadam alleged that Parab levelled baseless charges against him, including linking him to a "dance bar," which are currently banned in the state, news agency PTI reported.

Speaking at a news conference, Kadam also stated he would write to the chairman of the legislative council regarding Parab's false remarks. He highlighted that these comments were made when he was not even present in the House, which he claims is contrary to rules and should be removed from the official records.

Last week, Parab had controversially alleged that a "dance bar" in Mumbai held a permit in the name of Kadam's mother, a charge the minister has firmly rejected as baseless, PTI reported.

Parab further contended that this represented a conflict of interest, arguing that a minister cannot have business interests in a department they are part of.

Meanwhile, Parab had also alleged in the state legislative council that on May 30, police raided 'Saavali' bar in Mumbai's Kandivali area, apprehending 22 bar dancers, 22 customers, and four staff members.

Additionally, Parab accused Kadam of diverting "sand" from the Jagbudi river in Ratnagiri, his home district, to a dental college linked to his family. This construction material, Parab claimed, was meant to be given to farmers.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) legislator further alleged that the dental college, where Kadam purportedly diverted sand, is named after the minister's sister, and he himself was previously a director of the educational institute.

Responding to these accusations, Kadam stated, "I am nowhere linked to all the matters raised by Parab." He reiterated, "I am also going to move a breach of privilege complaint against Anil Parab."

According to PTI, the minister asserted that it was he who had directed the police to crack down on dance bars. Kadam contended that if he had intended to abuse his power as a minister of state in the Home department, he would have instructed the police not to take action against the bar.

Moreover, Kadam clarified that the silt removed from the Jagbudi river is not sand and cannot be used for construction purposes. He also added that he ceased to hold any position in the dental institute a year ago.
