A death-defying police chase on Sunday through the streets of Kalyan (E) resulted in the capture of a 19-year-old bike-borne miscreant who had minutes earlier snatched a gold chain from a woman&rsquo;s neck and was fleeing. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/sep/Faizal-Ali.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 454px;" /> Around 6 pm on Sunday accused Faizal Ali, riding pillion with his accomplice, snatches a woman&rsquo;s gold chain in Kalyan (E) and speeds away on the bike.u00a0Illustration/Amit Bandre Putting their lives at risk, two police constables gave chase to the bike-borne suspects after spotting the pillion rider changing his shirt on a moving bike. Cops raided his residence later in the evening and recovered four more gold chains. The absconding accused has been identified as Aziz Jafar Shaikh and cops have launched a manhunt to nab him. On Sunday at 6.30 pm, an alert citizen Shyam Shelke informed police constable Sanjay Koli (30) that two people snatched a woman&rsquo;s gold chain and were fleeing towards Shriram Cinema chowk on a red motorcycle. Koli, who was on duty with constable Babasaheb Yadav near Sargam Bar, immediately swung into action, halting two-wheelers in the area. After checking four bikes, the cops saw a youth sitting on the back seat of a motor bike, changing his shirt on the moving vehicle. Sensing something amiss, they asked the biker to stop. But the miscreants started speeding and paid no heed to the cops. Koli got on to his bike and started giving chase. After following the bike for nearly two kilometres, Koli came close to the bike and rammed into it. The duo fell off the bike and the cops managed to catch hold of the pillion rider, while the biker managed to slip away. &ldquo;It was not an easy pursuit for us, as the chain snatchers were riding at a high speed. We managed to nab one of them only because I crashed into their bike,&rdquo; said Koli. Appreciating the two constables work, MB Chavan, senior inspector, Kolsewadi police station, rewarded them with Rs 5,000 each. &ldquo;To curb chain snatching incidents in the area, I have formed a special squad called Goonda Squad. The local councillor Sanjay More has also rewarded Koli and Yadav with Rs 25,000,&rdquo; said Chavan. u00a0
