Taking serious note of mid-day&rsquo;s coverage of the sorry condition of Aarey Colony road - the link road connecting the Western Express Highway on the Goregaon end, with Powai and Marol on the other ends - the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) now seems to have pulled its socks up, and is preparing to repair the pothole-ridden road.

On October 28, this paper had reported that the condition of the road had only worsened over the past few months, with over 400 potholes on the road (BMC yet to finish repairs on Aarey Colony Road). The civic body had taken charge of the road almost two months ago, but had made little effort to repair the road so far.
However, works has now begun on the stretch between Marol and the picnic point inside Aarey Milk Colony, after which the rest of the road will also be repaired. On Tuesday evening, the authorities had started the process, and tar and crushed stone was transported to the area. By Wednesday, when mid-day visited the spot, road rollers were also present there.
The authorities have also started repair work on the stretch going from Aarey Market towards Royal Palms. This stretch also had several potholes that caused great hindrance to motorists and residents of Royal Palms. At present, the potholes have merely been filled with gravel and crushed stone, but the final layer of tar is still pending.
&ldquo;Just filling the potholes with stone crush powder and stones is not enough, because if they do not relay tar, the potholes will reappear. The authorities should do proper repair work this time,&rdquo; said a sceptical resident.

Following a series of mid-day reports on the pothole-ridden road, the BMC has now begun repairing the stretch going towards Marol; repairs will follow on the remaining stretches as well
