A fire broke out at the godown of a foam products manufacturing company in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Thursday morning, officials said, reported news agency PTI.
No casualties were reported so far, they said.
The blaze was reported at around 9 am in the godown of Bhagwati Foam Ltd at Chintupada in the Mahim area of Palghar, district disaster management cell chief Vivekanand Kadam said, reported PTI.
As per the company's website, it produces and distributes an extensive range of polyurethane foam products, catering to diverse applications such as mattresses, furniture, industrial uses and pillows, reported PTI.
Two fire engines were rushed to the spot, and efforts were underway to bring the blaze under control, Kadam said.
"No one was injured in the incident," the official said, reported PTI.
The cause of the fire was not yet known.
Five injured in LPG cylinder explosion at Dombivli
In another incident, five persons were injured in an explosion caused by a leaking LPG cylinder at Navneet Nagar Complex in Dombivli East, a civic official said, reported PTI.
The incident took place due to gas leakage at the house of Ketan Dedhia (35) around midnight on Monday, reported PTI.
When Dedhia, who returned home late at night, switched on a light, there was a massive explosion due to accumulated cooking gas, said a fire brigade official.
"The window panes and even grilles of his flat were blown off," he said, reported PTI.
Dedhia suffered nearly 50 percent burn injuries and was shifted to the Sion hospital in Mumbai. His condition was reported to be serious but stable.
Two neighbours, Mehul Vasad (40) and Vijay Ghor (45), sustained minor injuries. Their flat also suffered partial damage, reported PTI.
Harish Lodhaya (50) and his seven-year-old son Parshwa Harish Lodhaya, who live on a lower floor, were injured when broken window glass and grilles fell on them while they were walking in the building premises, reported PTI.
Authorities urged residents to regularly check domestic gas connections and ensure proper ventilation to prevent such incidents.
Bus gutted in fire on highway in Mumbai; no casualty
Meanwhile, a private bus was gutted in a fire on the Western Express Highway in Mumbai's Malad area on Tuesday morning, affecting traffic movement on the busy route for some time, officials said, reported PTI.
There was no report of any casualty, they said.
The fire brigade received information at around 10 am about the blaze in the Borivali-bound sleeper coach bus near a bridge in Malad (East), reported PTI.
There were passengers onboard when the fire erupted in the front portion of the bus, and they were all safely evacuated, a civic official said. The exact number of passengers onboard was not yet known.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze within 30 minutes, but by the time the entire bus was gutted.
"No injuries were reported in the incident," the official said.
Due to the fire, traffic on the Western Express Highway was affected for some time, according to officials, reported PTI.
The cause of the blaze was yet to be ascertained.
