Thane:&nbsp;The major that fire broke out in a residential building that has a powerloom unit on it ground floor has been brought under control. Around 80 people were stuck in the building, among whom more 50 people are been rescued. The fire officials, with the help of hydraulic staircases, are rescuing trapped victims, who are stuck on the terrace of the building.

According to fire officials, the fire broke out at Kasim Manzil, a ground plus three-storey structure in Bhiwandi at 7 am on Tuesday. The building has a garment on the ground floor and an office on the first floor while the above two floors are occupied by the workers of the firm.
Vaishali Lambhate, Tehsildar, Bhiwandi said, "The fire is under control now. Rescue operations are going on. No casualties have been reported so far. It&rsquo;s a residential building having a powerloom unit on ground floor. The residents took shelter on the terrace after the fire.&rdquo;

The fire officials are also taking the help of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) for the rescue operations. Around 7 water tanks, 10 fire engines are at the spot to control the fire. The fire engine and tankers came from different fire stations of Kalyan, Thane, Ulhasnagar and adjoining areas.&rdquo;
Datta Salvi, Chief Fire officer, Bhiwandi Fire station, added, &ldquo;The fire has been brought under control. Operations to rescue people are underway. The residents were alerted about the fire quickly, moved to the terrace and screamed for help. Early morning itself, we rescued around four people. Later, more than 50 people who were stuck on the terrace were rescued safely.&rdquo;
