Garib Nagar demolition: Mumbai cops resort to lathi charge, cordon off site as protests erupt

According to Mumbai Police, the demolition drive is being carried out as per orders of the Bombay High Court. During the operation, some anti-social elements allegedly attempted to obstruct the demolition work by pelting stones at the demolition squad

Tension gripped Mumbai’s Bandra area on Wednesday after protests broke out during the day- of the demolition drive in Garib Nagar locality.

Sources said that some locals staged protests against the demolition operation at a religious site, leading to a confrontation with police personnel deployed at the spot for the drive. During this stone pelting was reported at the spot.
