The Central Railway (CR) on Thursday announced the temporary cancellation of several long-distance and intercity trains after heavy rainfall triggered multiple landslides on the Lonavala-Karjat Section in Maharashtra, severely disrupting operations.
As per an official statement from the Central Railway, incessant rainfall on Monday caused landslides at multiple locations along the crucial ghat section, affecting all three railway lines. Restoration work is currently underway, but officials said the extensive damage and difficult working conditions are likely to delay the resumption of normal services.
