<p>A shop selling hookah operating barely 50 metres from ITM College in Kharghar was raided by the Navi Mumbai <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-drugs-case-mumbai-police-arrest-man-with-heroin-worth-rs-1-38-crore-in-borivali-23652517" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC)</a>, with officers seizing hookah products and smoking equipment.</p>
<p>During the raid, the police team recovered 300 containers of tobacco hookah flavours, six hookah pots, and four hookah pipes worth around Rs 91,000 from the shop.&nbsp;</p>
<p>&ldquo;Such violations will be dealt with as per the law,&rdquo; said Sandeep Nigade, senior inspector, ANC, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-navi-mumbai-police-bust-prostitution-racket-at-belapur-spa-rescue-five-women-23652324" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Navi Mumbai police</a>.</p>
<h2>Tobacco hookah banned</h2>
<p>Maharashtra implemented a strict, state-wide blanket ban on tobacco-based hookah parlours by amending the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) in 2018.</p>
