Citizens await their turn to get vaccinated at Byculla
Even as the city has administered over 1.12 crore vaccine doses and the BMC claims that almost 80 per cent of the population has taken at least one dose, the civic body could be far from vaccinating 100 per cent eligible residents by October. At least 4 out of 10 individuals vaccinated in Mumbai live out of the city limits, said sources. As per the corporation, the city has 90 lakh eligible citizens.
Officials from the civic body’s health department said that Mumbai’s count of fully or partially vaccinated will vary if they consider those coming from beyond city limits to get vaccine shots in areas covered by the BMC. Of the 1.12 crore doses delivered in Mumbai so far, 77.8 lakh were first shots and 35.18 lakh were second jabs.
