The Std X results declared by the Council for the India School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Wednesday, gave ICSE schools in the city a reason to celebrate. Eight students from the city made it to the All-India top three ranks, and Aadyaa Maddi from Vibgyor High School in Goregaon and Maullik Shah from Arya Vidya Mandir School in Bandra (East) were named state toppers, scoring 98.4 per cent.

According to the data provided by board officials, four students shared the first spot with 98.6 per cent. The second spot was shared by four students, two from Mumbai, with 98.4 per cent. The third rank was shared by 22 students across the country, with 98.2 per cent. Six of these students are from Mumbai and two&nbsp;from Pune.
&ldquo;The results have been outstanding this year. 69 students in our school scored above 90 per cent, and 15 students scored over 95. Scores in English and Marathi language have also improved this year,&rdquo; said Suma Das, principal of Pawar Public School in Bhandup. She added that their school topper scored 97.8 per cent in best five (English + four subjects).
Most principals shared the same view that results have improved this year. The overall pass percentage of students across the country was 98.28 per cent. In Maharashtra, it was 99.64 per cent, which has dipped by 0.09 per cent from last year.
Sandhya Balkrishnan, principal Avabai Petit Girls High School in Bandra, said, &ldquo;Our batch has done remarkably well and the results have been better than last year.
We&rsquo;ve had a 100 per cent result and out of 65 students, 27 have scored more than 90 per cent. Students have performed well in social studies, however, compared to last year, we&rsquo;ve had fewer students scoring 100 out of 100 in Mathematics.&rdquo;
Better late than never The ICSE results were expected to be declared by 3 pm. However, schools were unable to log in to the website till almost 4. &ldquo;The website was down and we were unable to download the results. Thankfully, students received their results on time through SMS,&rdquo; said Paul Machado, principal of Campion High School in Colaba. Speaking to mid-day, Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of CISCE, said that the website encountered a minor issue, but it was soon resolved. &ldquo;The results have been really good this year; the individual scores of students have improved,&rdquo; he added.
