Chaos unfolded outside the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) in Powai on Sunday as students, activists, and citizens gathered to mark one month since the death of 20-year-old student Sahil Wakode, who was found dead in his hostel room on September 18. A series of protests and programmes had been planned to demand justice for Sahil.

The students protesting inside the campus said they were detained  and also injured during the scuffle with the police, while Sahil’s parents and others protesting outside the main gate were also detained. Students further alleged that the police removed their protest site at the “Justice Corner”. The site  near the main gate of IIT Bombay has been dubbed “Justice Corner” by the protesting students.
