Thane: The Thane Zilla Parishad has stopped the increments of as many as 36 Gram Sevaks for alleged dereliction of duty, a senior ZP official said on Friday.
Thane Zilla Parishad CEO Uday Choudhary found that the gram sevaks had not properly implemented the Employment Guarantee Scheme and Swachh Bharat programmes effectively, and hence action was taken against them, he said. He said since the last two months, the number of workers under the MNREGS was on a decline and the gram sevaks submitted reports that there was no demand for construction of toilets from the villagers.
