Influence of West leading to isolation of elderly: Mumbai City Police Commissioner

Police chief reaches out to senior citizens, bats for law to ensure kids take care of them

The Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansankar on Monday suggested that a law be passed to ensure the elderly are taken care of by their children. He also expressed concerns about the “influence of Western culture on Indian society, which has led to the isolation of senior citizens by their children.”

Local elders were felicitated by the DB Marg police station on the occasion of World Senior Citizen’s Day. Apart from the police commissioner, other senior officials such as Special Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Joint Commissioner (Law and Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary, Additional CP Abhinav Deshmukh, DCP Mohit Kumar Garg, ACP Ravi Sardesai were present at the event.
