The Maharashtra Association of Residents Doctors (MARD) yesterday asked the Bombay High Court to order a time bound inquiry in to the JJ Hospital doctors&rsquo; strike and have a team sans hospital dean Dr TP Lahane do it.

Sneha Singh, a lawyer representing MARD, asked the court to consider forming a separate committee without Lahane as the doctors have blamed him for mental harassment. Also, a redressal cell comprising him was formed in July 2013 but it never took any action since all the cases were against Lahane. &ldquo;A separate committee must conduct a time bound inquiry into the matter,&rdquo; Singh told the court.
Meanwhile, acting state advocate general Rohit Dev informed the court that a seven-member committee will be formed comprising two MARD members, an IAS officer, one retired justice of Bombay High Court and two senior officers of medical department.
Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Prakash Naik, while hearing a PIL filed by activist Afak Mandaviya challenging the doctors&rsquo; strike, asked MARD to suggest names of retired judges for the position in the committee. The dcotors&rsquo; association replied with names of Justice Mohit Shah and Justice V K Deshmukh. Also, Dev said since they require medical representatiuon too on the committee, they can have dean of St George Hospital in the panel. The matter was deferred until today.
Hear me out: Lahane The dean of J J Hospital yesterday urged the Bombay High Court to hear him before passing an order setting up a grievances committee to probe allegations against him. Advocate Jagtap Shekhar told the bench that he was appearing for Lahane and his client wanted the high court to hear him before passing an order and the court agreed.
