Konkan Railway reports Rs 137.69-crore profit on 35th Foundation Day at Navi Mumbai

The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) marked its 35th Foundation Day on Wednesday at the CIDCO Exhibition & Convention Center in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, highlighting its key achievements in infrastructure, passenger services, and financial performance.

The event was attended by KRCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Santosh Kumar Jha and Directors Rajesh M Bhadang, Sunil Gupta, and Rajeev Kumar Mishra. Jha reflected on the organisation’s 35-year journey, crediting employees’ dedication for driving growth, while the directors emphasised a continued focus on modernisation, safety, sustainability, and expansion.


KRCL posted its third consecutive profitable year post-Covid, earning a revenue of Rs 4,202.67 crore and a profit of Rs 137.69 crore. The corporation also secured new projects worth Rs 4,157 crore, including Rs 3,000 crore in electrification works, and a Rs 952-crore maintenance contract for the Katra–Banihal section of Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL).



The Katra–Sangaldan section of USBRL was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6. This section features the world’s highest railway arch bridge, the Chenab Bridge, and India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge, the Anji Khad Bridge.

KRCL also reported record passenger activity, with 381 Ganesh Utsav special trains transporting over nine lakh passengers. Investments in station amenities included Rs 18.66 crore for financial year (FY) 2025–26, with Rs 105 crore planned over the next three years. Infrastructure upgrades included platform extensions, a new foot overbridge at Madgaon, and a rail arcade featuring 21 food outlets. A new mobile application aimed at enhancing passenger convenience was also launched during the celebrations.

KRCL also won the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar (second prize) and multiple NARAKAS (Nagar Rajbhasha Karyaanvayan Samiti) awards given for official language implementation.

Employees were felicitated with Foundation Day Awards and an ex-gratia of Rs 17,951 each was transferred to 5,104 staff members. A cultural show was held to mark the celebrations.
