The BMC had issued around 160 notices to residents of Khadi No 3 in Kurla, warning them that they lived in a high-risk area prone to landslides and advising them to vacate their homes, a senior civic official said. The notices were among around 500 issued across the L ward.

On Wednesday, a portion of a hillside collapsed onto homes at Gaushiya Chawl in Teen Number Khadi, at around 3.48 am, killing seven people, including three children, and injuring seven others.
