<p>In a major change for upcoming board examinations, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is planning to reduce the printing length of Class 10 SSC and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-hsc-results-2026-declared-overall-pass-percentage-stands-at-89-79-per-cent-23628526" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Class 12 HSC</a> question papers.</p>
<p>While the font size, number of questions, and overall format of the papers will remain unchanged, the board plans to redesign the layout in a format similar to regular textbooks.</p>
<h2>Board aims to reduce printing costs</h2>
<p>&ldquo;Nearly Rs 25 crore is spent on printing <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-ssc-board-results-2026-all-you-need-to-know-23629508" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">board examination papers</a> every year. We aim to cut these costs without changing fonts or making the question papers any less legible,&rdquo; said Trigun Kulkarni, chairperson of the Maharashtra board.</p>
<h2>Printing costs likely to drop significantly</h2>
<p>Officials said the size of the question paper booklets will be reduced, which is expected to bring down printing costs by nearly 50 to 60 per cent.</p>
