The BJP has swept the 2026 civic polls, winning 1,425 of 2,869 seats across 29 municipal corporations, and wresting control of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) from Uddhav Thackeray, ending his family's three-decade-old dominance in the cash-rich civic body, according to official data.
