A day after reporting no fresh cases of Covid-19, Mumbai on Saturday reported six new cases, while 20 were reported across Maharashtra on 28 June, a state health department bulletin said.

It said that with addition of the fresh cases, Maharashtra has reported 2,482 Covid-19 positive patients since January 2025.

The recovery rate currently in state is at 93.27 per cent.

According to the state health department bulletin, all patients so far have reported only mild symptoms.

Since January 2025, a total number of 37 deaths have been reported in the state, out of which 36 were with comorbidities and one with other disease, officials said.

Of these, 36 patients had serious underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, lung disease, or stroke and one patient had symptoms of fever and shortness of breath, the health department's bulletin stated.

According to the bulletin, on Saturday, Mumbai reported 6 Covid-19 cases, Thane Municipal Corporation-2, Navi Mumbai -1, Pune Municipal Corporation-5, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation-2, Satara-1, Kolhapur Municipal Corporation-1 and Nagpur Municipal Corporation reported -2 cases on June 28.

A total number of 29,054 Covid-19 tests were conducted since January 2025, officials said.

On Friday, the Mumbai civic body had stated that in a major relief for Mumbai residents, the city had not reported any new Covid-19 case June 27, 2025.

It was the first time in months that no new infections have been recorded in a single day in Mumbai, officials said.

The BMC had on Friday urged the citizens to remain cautious and seek medical advice if they experience any Covid-like or flu symptoms.

Mumbai has seen a gradual rise in cases in the past few months this year.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), from January to April, only 6 cases were reported. However, the city witnessed a huge spike in May and 435 cases were reported in the month.

This month, the city has so far reported 545 cases in addition to the cases reported on Saturday, officials said.

The bulletin said that the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) has been actively monitoring patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI).

"Covid-19 is a viral disease. Currently, ILI /SARI surveillance is being done in Maharashtra. During the survey, such patients are tested for Covid. These Covid patients are being treated regularly after positive report. There is gradual but definite increase in Covid patients in Maharashtra. Covid patients are showing mild symptoms. Covid testing and treatment facilities are available through the Public Health Department. The public is appealed not to panic," the health department bulletin said.
