Maharashtra: Fire breaks out at 18 storey building in Dombivli

A major fire broke out in an 18 storey building in Dombivli area of Maharashtra on Saturday, no one was injured in the blaze, the officials said

A major fire broke out in an 18 storey building in Dombivli area of Maharashtra on Saturday, the officials said.


The fire started from a pigeon net installed in the duct area of the building and later spread over till the 18th floor of the building, they said.


According to the fire officials, the incident was reported at around 13:23 hrs. 


"A fire broke out in the duct of Tata Orolia Building at Palava Phase 2, Khoni, Dombivli (East). Firefighters rushed to the spot along with 2-fire vehicles," an official said.

Suraj Yadav, an Assistant Fire Officer of Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) who was at the spot along with Deputy Fire official and other team members confirmed that the fire has been doused and everyone at the building was safe. 

Yadav stated that the officials went for an inspection after they got the information regarding the fire.

He said, "Using the fire fighting equipment in the building we doused the fire. It had spread through the duct area and went on till the top floor. Plastic pipe and pigeon net caught fire which has been completely doused. The fire was extinguished at around 2:30 pm. No one was injured in the said incident."

The fire officials, during a cooling operation also checked the flats in the building and found everyone safe, the officials said.
