A leakage in a gas pipeline in Maharashtra's Thane was reported on Thursday, the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/Thane-Municipal-Corporation-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC)</a> said on Thursday.
The RDMC said, the incident was reported at around 11:38 am on Thursday at Sadhna Society in Kopri area of Thane. The incident, involving a Mahanagar Gas pipeline leakage, was reported by an alert resident.
The mishap occurred during the initiation of new construction work in Sadhna Society. Officials from the disaster management cell and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot, ensuring that the situation remained under control.
"No injuries were reported in the incident," an official said.
The coordinated efforts of Mahanagar Gas employees involved the closure of the main valve of the gas pipeline, followed by the immediate commencement of repair work.
In an another incident, a 25-year-old man suffered burn injuries after a major fire broke out inside an industrial complex near Mrinal Gore flyover in Goregaon area of Mumbai, officials said.
The dousing operations were on till late at night though the flames had been brought under control on Thursday morning.
The fire had erupted in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-at-goregaon-industrial-complex-doused-after-13-hours-23331700" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Asmi Industrial Complex in Goregaon (West)</a> around 8 pm.
Around 12 fire engines and other fire-fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot, the officials said.
The flames were confined to a diesel godown and scrap materials in a few units inside the complex, the civic officials said.
The man injured in the incident was identified as Nasim Khan who suffered 10 to 15 per cent burn injuries. He was admitted to the civic-run Trauma Care Hospital and was undergoing treatment, the official said.
Meanwhile,&nbsp;on Wednesday evening, a massive fire broke out at a penthouse of a high-rise building in Goregaon West on Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials said.
According to the civic body, the incident was reported at around 6:11 pm in the upscale Anmol Pride building on Govind Ji Shroff Marg in Mahesh Nagar area of Goregaon West. The incident was reported to the BMC's Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).
"The officials of the Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the spot and began a firefighting operation," the officials said.
The officials said, the fire was found to be confined to the 26th floor of the ground plus upper 27-floored building. It has posed challenges as the firefighting system on-site is reportedly not operational.
