The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/retirement-age-for-government-employees-maharashtra-govt-employees-urge-cm-fadnavis-to-raise-retirement-age-limit-to-60-23644283" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra Cabinet</a> on Tuesday approved changes to rules governing delayed land acquisition compensation and cleared concessions aimed at encouraging renewable energy projects in the state, reported the PTI.
The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The Cabinet approved amendments to Section 72 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, the news agency reported.
The changes will revise the interest rate payable when land acquisition compensation is delayed, according to an official statement.
The move is aimed at updating the compensation framework and addressing cases where payments to landowners are not made within the required period.
<h2>Stamp duty relief for renewable energy projects</h2>
In a move to support renewable energy investments, the Cabinet approved a stamp duty exemption for internal land transfer transactions between companies belonging to the same group or special purpose vehicles (SPVs) established for <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-tata-power-commissions-100-8-mw-jewali-wind-project-in-dharashiv-boosts-renewable-energy-capacity-23638082" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">renewable energy projects</a>, according to the PTI.
The Cabinet also approved a 25 per cent concession on land transfer fees for land purchased for renewable energy projects.
The measures are expected to reduce transaction costs and facilitate the development of renewable energy infrastructure in Maharashtra.
<h2>Four new posts in agriculture dept</h2>
The Cabinet approved the creation of four posts in the state Agriculture Department as part of a revised organisational structure for its field offices, as per the PTI.
The posts are Director of Agriculture (Agricultural Engineering, Asset Management and AgriStack), Joint Director of Agriculture (Statistics), Joint Director of Agriculture (Information and Technology) and Additional Director, AgriStack (Revenue).
Two Joint Director-level posts will be filled through deputation.
<h2>Rs 18.09 cr loan proposal for sugar factory</h2>
According to the PTI, the Maharashtra Cabinet also approved a proposal allowing the Shri Nilkantheshwar Shetkari Cooperative Sugar Factory at Killari in Ausa tehsil of Latur district to seek financial assistance from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
A loan proposal of Rs 18.09 crore will be submitted to the NCDC for capital expenditure and working capital requirements.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/siddhivinayak-donation-row-devendra-fadnavis-orders-probe-into-temple-records-of-last-five-years-23643798" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">state government</a> also approved changes to the rules and guidelines for establishing private skill universities on a self-financed basis.
The move is aimed at strengthening the framework for private institutions offering skill-based education and training.
<h2>Social work courses in senior colleges</h2>
In another decision, the Cabinet approved a proposal allowing senior colleges to introduce social work as an independent faculty.
The colleges will also be permitted to start new courses and additional divisions. Social work colleges will be allowed to introduce new courses and additional divisions on a permanent unaided basis.
<h2>New court and govt pleader's office in Nanded</h2>
The Cabinet further approved the creation of judicial officer and staff posts, along with the required expenditure provisions, for establishing a District and Additional Sessions Court at Hadgaon in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-two-sisters-aged-4-and-6-die-after-suspected-pesticide-fume-exposure-in-nanded-23643665" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Nanded district in Maharashtra</a>.
It also approved provisions for setting up a government pleader's office in the town.
The decisions form part of a series of administrative, agricultural, educational and infrastructure-related measures approved by the Maharashtra Cabinet, the news agency reported.
