Maharashtra: More essential services notified, travel made easier

The state government has amended the previous lockdown/curbs order, adding some more essential services to be allowed during the restrictions in force till April 30. In an amendment issued Monday night, petrol pumps and petroleum related products, cargo services data centres, cloud service providers, IT services supporting critical infrastructure and services, government and private security services and fruit vendors have been notified as essential.


The private organisations allowed to remain open on weekdays between 7 AM and 8 PM are: SEBI and offices of SEBI recognized market infrastructure institutions such as stock exchanges, depositories and clearing corporations and intermediaries registered with SEBI; the RBI regulated entities and intermediaries including standalone primary dealers;  CCIL, NPCI, payment system operators and financial market participants operating in RBI regulated markets; all non-banking financial corporations; all micro finance institutions; offices of advocates; custom house agents/licensed multi-modal transport operators associated with movement of vaccines/lifesaving drugs/pharmaceutical products


All these establishments will have to get their personnel vaccinated at the earliest, and till then must carry negative RT-PCR certificates valid upto 15 days. This rule will come into effect from April 10. In absence of the certificate, a fine of Rs 1,000 will be levied.


Ease of travel

Persons arriving/departing by train/ bus/flight from 8 PM to 7 AM or on weekends may travel to the airport/ bus station/train station or back home on the basis of a valid ticket. Industrial workers travelling by private buses/private vehicle may be allowed to travel on the basis of an identity card from 8 PM to 7 AM and during weekends.

Places of worship are currently closed to the public. Only personnel engaged in the service of the place of worship shall continue to perform their duties. In case of a wedding/last rites to be held in the place of worship, it may be allowed only for the said purpose subject to the COVID protocol and government order. A student who requires to physically attend an exam may be allowed to travel to the examination centre/back home after 8 PM or on weekends subject to carrying a valid hall ticket.

With regard to weddings scheduled on weekends, the local disaster management authority will decide based on the local situation subject to adherence to all rules laid down. With regard to allowing domestic help/drivers/cooks to work past 8 PM and/or on weekends, the local disaster management authority has been empowered to decide upon the same.
