A 13-year-old girl from <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-navi-mumbai-man-crushed-to-death-by-truck-23330534" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Navi Mumbai township</a> in Maharashtra allegedly ran away from home over the fear that her mother would scold her for not attending her tuition classes, police said on Sunday, reported news agency PTI.
The incident took place on Friday in Airoli area.
The girl's mother saw her near a garden and called the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/navi-mumbai-suicide-note-leads-police-to-womans-body-23330478" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Navi Mumbai teen</a>, reported PTI.
The Navi Mumbai teen, who had not attended her tuition classes, was scared that her mother would scold her. The girl allegedly ran away and did not return home, an official from Rabale police station said quoting the mother's complaint, reported PTI.
The police have registered a case and are conducting a probe into it, the official said, reported PTI.
In another case, police have filed a case against a man from Panvel in Maharashtra's Raigad district for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl, an official said, reported PTI.
The case against, Vineet Nair (34), was registered at <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/navi-mumbai-police-arrest-3-in-inter-state-laptop-theft-ring-23330391" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Khandeshwar police station</a> in Navi Mumbai for the incidents that took place on January 9 and 10, he said, reported PTI.
As per the complaint lodged by the victim's mother, the accused took the teenage girl to a secluded place in Panvel, where he touched her inappropriately, the police official said, reported PTI.
He was booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 363 (kidnapping) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered by <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/navi-mumbai-panvel-woman-accuses-man-of-sexual-assault-extortion-on-marriage-pretext-case-registered-23330376" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Navi Mumbai police</a> against a woman and her parents for allegedly trying to kill her estranged husband, an official said on Friday, reported PTI.
No arrest has been made in the case yet, he said.
As per the complaint filed by Amol Gat (27), the relations between him and his wife Shrutika are strained for some time, reported PTI.
They had a quarrel on December 17 when Shrutika, her father Sridhar Dhaghe, mother Shraddha and brother Advedh arrived at his residence to collect her belongings as she wanted to leave him, the complaint said, reported PTI.
Shrutika and others tried to strangle him during the quarrel, causing him severe neck injuries, Gat alleged, reported PTI.
He decided to file a police complaint after recovering from the injuries, he said, reported PTI.
A First Information Report under Indian Penal Code sections 323 (assault) and 307 (attempt to murder) was registered at Panvel police station and further probe was underway, the official said, reported PTI.
