In view of heavy rains in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-rains-police-station-flooded-after-heavy-showers-in-raigad-23298810" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra</a>, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed a total of 12 teams across the state, the NDRF said on Wednesday.&nbsp;
The NDRF said, five teams have been deployed in Mumbai, one team each in Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Sangli, Nagpur, and Thane districts of the state.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department in Mumbai has issued an "orange" alert for the city, indicating the likelihood of severe to extremely heavy rainfall in certain areas throughout the day.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/weather-updates-rains-lash-parts-of-telangana-heavy-showers-predicted-in-next-few-days-23298648" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">India Meteorological Department</a>'s Mumbai center has also issued an 'orange' alert for Thane districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few locations on Wednesday. Furthermore, a 'red' alert has been issued for Raigad and Palghar districts, anticipating heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rain at isolated locations.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a &lsquo;Red&rsquo; alert for Palghar and Raigad district in Maharashtra for July 19.&nbsp;
The weather bulletin said, "Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places was very likely."&nbsp;
According to the weather bulletin, an 'Orange' alert has been issued for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri for July 19.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) at Mumbai has issued an 'orange' alert for Maharashtra's Palghar district, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places here over the next two days, the local administration said on Tuesday.
The Regional Meteorological Center, Mumbai on Wednesday said that the districts of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad are very likely to witness "intense spells of rain" during the next 3-4 hours. "Occasional strong winds very likely," the weather forecasting center said on Twitter.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mumbai and its suburbs received moderate to heavy rainfall during the day and the weather department has issued an orange alert for the city for Wednesday, July 19, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places, officials said.
The weather bureau has issued a red alert for neighbouring Raigad and Palghar districts predicting heavy to very rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rain at isolated places for Wednesday. An orange alert is sounded for Thane district.
As per the IMD (India Meteorological Department) classification, an orange alert is for a rainfall range between 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in a day, while a red alert is issued when rainfall above 204.5 mm is expected for a 24-hour duration.
