Maharashtra records 2,779 new cases, city reports 483 infections

Even as Maharashtra recorded less than 3,000 fresh cases on Friday, Mumbai saw COVID infections below 500. Across the state, 2,779 people contracted the disease in 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 20.03 lakh cases.

Even as Maharashtra recorded less than 3,000 fresh cases on Friday, Mumbai saw COVID infections below 500. Across the state, 2,779 people contracted the disease in 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 20.03 lakh cases. Government numbers showed there 52 new coronavirus-related deaths across the state, taking the total number of such fatalities so far to 50,634. 

While Mumbai reported 483 new cases, Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan Dombivali municipal corporations recorded 90, 60 and 72 cases respectively in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
