Maharashtra recorded 16 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the state's overall tally of infections so far to 2,517, the health department said.

As per the State Public Health Department, no COVID-19-linked fatality has been reported since Monday. A total of 38 patients have succumbed to the viral infection since January 1, of whom 37 had comorbidities (pre-existing health conditions that can increase the risk of severe illness), an official statement said.

With Maharashtra continuing to maintain a strong grip over COVID-19 infection across the state, only 16 new positive cases were reported on July 1. According to the Public Health Department, all patients who are currently infected with the virus are experiencing only mild symptoms, and the state’s overall recovery rate stands at an impressive 94.91%.

As per the official data released by the authorities, a total of 30,557 COVID-19 tests have been conducted since January 2025, out of which 2,517 patients tested positive. Of these, 2,389 patients have recovered, while the number of active cases is 90.

As per the release by the authorities, out of the fresh cases, four each were reported from the limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation and Chandrapur. Mumbai and Nagpur logged three infections each, while one case was reported from the areas under the Thane civic body and Panvel.

The tally of cases in Mumbai has risen to 995 since January of this year. The metropolis had added 551 infections in June and three in July.

Furthermore, the health department has conducted 30,557 COVID-19 tests across the state since January 1. The number of recoveries stood at 2,389.

So far, the state has recorded 38 COVID-19-related deaths this year. Notably, 37 of the deceased had comorbidities, while 1 had other underlying health conditions.

The health department continues to monitor the situation closely and urges citizens to remain vigilant and follow basic hygiene practices to prevent the spread of infection.

Also, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), earlier on Friday, urged the citizens to remain cautious and seek medical advice if they experience any Covid-like or flu symptoms.
