The tussle between Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and the BJP continued following the filing of nominations for the Andheri assembly bypoll, with Sena’s ex-corporator Sandip Naik objecting to the nomination of Murji Patel, a BJP candidate.
The Andheri assembly seat has been vacant ever since MLA Ramesh Latke’s passing away, following a heart attack in May this year. October 14 was the last day of the nomination—Rutuja, wife of Latke, who belongs to Uddhav Thackeray’s Sena and Patel from BJP filed nominations on the same day. Experts said that the election would be a litmus test for the upcoming BMC polls.
