A potential disaster was averted in Thane’s Naupada area on Tuesday afternoon after a tin sheet from a residential building was dislodged by strong winds and left hanging precariously over an adjacent structure. The disaster management department and fire brigade acted immediately, bringing the situation under control, thereby preventing any injury.

The incident occurred around 3 pm near Karve Hospital in Bhaskar Colony, when a metal sheet from the four-storeyed Tapovan Society was blown off and came to rest dangerously over the shed of the neighbouring Deepprabha building, which is a two-floor building.


Information about the incident was first received by the disaster management cell from Naupada Guard Kiran Nakti. Responding immediately, personnel from the disaster management department and the fire brigade rushed to the site along with a fire engine.



After a careful and coordinated effort, the dangling tin sheet was safely removed, eliminating any further threat to residents or passersby. Authorities confirmed that no injuries or property damage occurred during the incident.

Passenger gets trapped under train in Maharashtra's Akola district; rescued

A 50-year-old man was injured after he slipped while alighting a train and got trapped under it in Maharashtra's Akola district, the railway police informed on Tuesday.

The incident took place at the Murtijapur Railway Station, approximately at 4.20 pm on Monday, an official stated, according to the news agency PTI. 

The injured was alighting from the Pune-Amravati train on platform no 2 when he lost his footing, slipped and got trapped under the train, he said.

The official said the railway police had to extricate the injured passenger with the help of a local rescue team, and a gas cutter was used to remove the footboard of the train and pull him out safely.

The man suffered serious injuries to his legs and was rushed to a local government hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, he added.

20 passengers injured after private bus hits another vehicle on Mumbai-Nashik Highway

As many as 20 passengers of a private bus sustained injuries after it hit another vehicle on the Mumbai-Nashik highway near Ghoti in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Monday evening, police said, according to news agency PTI.

The accident took place on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway when the private bus was going towards Panvel in Navi Mumbai from Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district of north Maharashtra, an official said.

The driver lost control and the bus crashed into another vehicle on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway. As many as 20 passengers of the private bus were injured in the accident and rushed to a local hospital for treatment, he added.
