Mumbai Police began restoring operations at the 102-year-old Byculla police station on Monday, less than 24 hours after a fire damaged its first floor, destroying computers, police records and equipment in the CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems) room.

Essential work has been shifted to the adjoining administrative building, which was unaffected. Passport verification resumed on Monday evening, while officials said other services, including FIR and NC registration, would return to normal shortly.
