Maharashtra continued to reel under intense heat on Monday, with Vidarbha emerging as the hottest region while most parts of the state recorded dry conditions and above-normal temperatures, according to IMD data.

Vidarbha bears the brunt of intense heat

Wardha sizzled at 41.5 degrees Celsius, the highest maximum temperature recorded in the state, while nearby Vidarbha districts also remained extremely hot — Amravati and Gondia at 40.4 degrees Celsius, Jalgaon at 40.1 degrees Celsius, and Akola and Yavatmal close behind in the high 39 degrees Celsius range.
