It will be Bakra Eid soon and many people are preparing for the festival by buying goats. However, this has also led to incidents where goats have been stolen. In Malwani, a man cleverly snatched a goat from a 13-year-old boy on Monday, but he was caught while trying to escape with it in an auto rickshaw.

On Monday evening, the boy, Rizwan Ahmed was feeding his goat, which had been purchased for Bakra Eid. An unidentified man approached him and told him to give it water as it might be thirsty. When Rizwan went to bring some water, he noticed that the man put the goat in an auto rickshaw.
Rizwan ran towards the auto, but he could not reach it. He started screaming and alerted the people present in the area. Some people followed the auto on a bike and when it reached Marve Cross Road, it had to stop as there was police nakabandi. Constable DY Bansode nabbed the accused, along with the driver and took them to the Malwani police station. The police then contacted Riyaz, Rizwan&rsquo;s father, who thanked the police. When police asked Rizwan and Riyaz Ahmed to file a complaint against the accused, they refused. According to the police, they did not want to get involved in legalities.
Police said the man who was trying to steal the goat was from the same area, where Riyaz stays. Riyaz is a driver by profession and Rizwan is a student of Std IX. The goat which was abducted by the accused was purchased a day before the incident for Rs 21000.
Another incident In another second case, three accused, Anish Shaikh, Firoz Shaikh and Mohammad Kalil Qureshi, allegedly stole five goats from Wadala last week. However Qureshi was immediately arrested from his Chembur residence and the cops were successful in recovering three of the five goats stolen.
The other goats are suspected to be with the absconders. An officer from Wadala Truck Terminal police station said, &ldquo;We have arrested only Qureshi as of now while the other two are absconding. The three accused stole the goats and kept them in Qureshi&rsquo;s shop at Chembur, following which on the basis of the information received we laid a trap and nabbed him.&rdquo;
Getting their goats A theft was registered with Wadala Truck Terminal police station in which nineteen goats were stolen last month. Senior Police Inspector Suhas Garud from Wadala Truck Terminal police said, &ldquo;Three accused identified as Vinayak Kandaswami, Vinod Jaiswal, Peerswami Devendra stole 19 goats from Pratiksha Nagar in their Esteem car and took them to their fourth accomplice, Kanna Devendra who is based in Vile Parle. Kanna Devendra earned money by selling all the meat to his customers.&rdquo;
The complainant had valued his 19 goats for Rs 80,400 which the cops recovered after arresting Devendra as they took the money from him and handed it over to the complainant. The four were booked under Sections 380 (theft in a dwelling house), and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code.
