A 51-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a 2008 robbery case, where he had stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 90 lakh from a jewellery shop. Before his arrest, accused Hakim Yadav was working as the bodyguard of an Uttar Pradesh-based MLA.

The robbery occurred in broad daylight in 2008, when four men, armed with guns, entered Dinesh Jewellery shop in Khar. At gunpoint, they robbed gold ornaments worth R90 lakh and fled after assaulting the owner. Sources said Yadav was the mastermind and has been wanted since 2008. He was caught after inspector Dinesh Kadam received a tip-off from an informer, who said Yadav is going to land in the city along with his MLA boss Subhash Passi. Following this, PI Kadam and his team laid a trap and nabbed Yadav on Tuesday from Passi’s residence in Juhu.
