The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) seems to have taken note of the inconvenience caused to motorists by the lack of signages for the Rs 400-crore Sahar Elevated Road.

Four days after MiD DAY reported that passengers making their way to the airport from the northern parts of the city were facing problems due to the lack of signages, the authorities have installed instruction boards on the flyover as well as on the Western Express Highway to inform the commuters.

Commuters coming from the south side of the Santacruz Domestic Airport flyover on the Western Express Highway (WEH) need to use the newly constructed underpass immediately after coming down from the flyover ramp to take the Sahar Elevated Road and reach the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Terminal-2 in a mere five minutes.
MMRDA has installed signages to ensure that commuters keep to the right to take this underpass. Commuters not bound for Terminal-2 on the north-bound carriageway should not take the right-most lane of the flyover while coming down on the ramp and head straight towards Andheri.
Commuters using the north bound slip lanes by the side of the flyover cannot enter this underpass located on the right side of the north bound carriageway on the Western Express Highway. Motorists coming from North viz. Goregaon-Dahisar on the WEH should use the Andheri flyover and then take a left turn to CSI airport near the Airport Colony to reach Terminal 2.
Commuters exiting towards the south viz. Bandra-Churchgate and Sion must take the left turn from Sahar Elevated road to take the WEH.
Commuters leaving T2 towards North viz. Goregaon-Dahisar must take the left turn from Sahar Elevated road to take WEH and then take a u-turn from under the Domestic Airport flyover at Santacruz Airport Junction.

The MMRDA has also appealed to the commuters to follow these instructions in order to not get confused and waste time.
