Mid-day photographers receive Covid Photo Contest award from state sports minister Sunil Kedar

Two of mid-day’s ace bunch of photographers, Ashish Rane and Satej Shinde won COVID Photo Contest awards at the Mumbai Press Club for their excellent photographs of the pandemic-induced lockdown

Their photos that impressed the judges

More then two thousand people turned up outside Bandra Railway station after rumours that outstation trains had been started did the rounds during the start of the lockdown in April 2020. When they learnt that the information was false, the desperate migrants became agitated and the police had to lathi-charge them. The additional CP then arranged for a truckload of food grain and other necessities, which helped calm down the angry mob. Pic/Ashish Rane
