<p>The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has announced a 24-hour suspension of water supply from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to parts of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/international-human-trafficking-racket-busted-by-mira-bhayandar-crime-branch-23597284" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mira-Bhayandar</a> city starting Thursday afternoon.</p>
<p>According to MBMC&rsquo;s Water Supply and Sewerage Department, water supply from the Barvi Water Treatment Plant at Jambhul will remain suspended from 12 pm on May 7 to 12 pm on May 8.</p>
<p>The civic body said water supplied through the STEM Authority will continue during the shutdown period. However, residents may experience low water pressure and delays in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-residents-question-timing-of-bmcs-30-hour-summer-water-cut-for-tunnel-work-23629042" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">water supply</a> until the MIDC supply is restored.</p>
<h2>Decision taken to prevent future water scarcity</h2>
<p>MBMC said the decision to implement water cuts was taken during a meeting with the Water Resources Department on April 23 in view of concerns over a delayed monsoon this year.</p>
<p>The corporation attributed the expected delay in monsoon conditions to the impact of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-govt-braces-for-possible-el-nino-impact-devendra-fadnavis-calls-for-effective-water-management-23626635" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">El Nino</a> and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), adding that precautionary measures are being introduced to avoid future water shortages.</p>
<h2>Nearly 199 MLD water received on May 5</h2>
<p>As per MBMC data, the city received a total of 199.383 million litres per day (MLD) of water on May 5.</p>
<p>Of the total supply, 117.057 MLD was received from MIDC, while 82.326 MLD came from the STEM Authority.</p>
<h2>Civic body appeals for judicious use of water</h2>
<p>MBMC has appealed to residents to use water responsibly and cooperate with the administration during the temporary disruption period.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, several parts of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-to-face-24-hour-water-cut-from-may-7-noon-supply-hit-in-multiple-areas-23628958" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane</a> will experience a 24-hour water supply disruption starting Thursday afternoon due to maintenance work being carried out by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), according to the Thane Municipal Corporation.</p>
<p>The civic body said the shutdown will begin at 12 pm on May 7 and continue until 12 pm on May 8. The work involves urgent repairs and upgradation of Barvi gravity pipelines 1, 2 and 3 at the reservoir of the Jambhul Water Treatment Plant.</p>
<p>According to the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-civic-body-accelerates-pre-monsoon-drain-cleaning-completion-targeted-by-may-end-23626798" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane Municipal Corporation</a>, water supply will remain completely suspended in areas under the Diva, Mumbra (excluding some parts of ward numbers 26 and 31), and Kalwa ward committees during this period.</p>
<p>In addition, a 24-hour water cut will affect Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2, Nehru Nagar in the Wagle ward committee, and Lower Kolshet village under the Manpada ward committee, the civic body said.</p>
