In a special campaign conducted by the Mira-Bhayandar traffic police on Friday, more than 250 auto-rickshaw drivers were caught while allegedly talking on the mobile using headphones. The cops made the erring auto drivers remove their headphones and hand it to them only for them to burn the bunch at a junction near the auto stand, in front of the passengers and passerby.
Senior police inspector Anil Pawar of Mira-Bhayander traffic division said that the Mira Bhayander traffic division police started this initiative where on-duty traffic constables took action by taking away the headphones of erring auto drivers and burnt it at the junction.
