MMR makes up 85 per cent of Maharashtra’s Covid-19 cases

The Covid-19 cases in Mumbai continue to increase. On Thursday, the city registered 3,671 cases, 46 per cent more compared to Wednesday. Even the test positivity rate (TPR - cases per hundred tests) is now close to 8 per cent. TPR of more than 5 per cent is considered alarming. The cases in MMR has also started showing a rising trend, as Navi Mumbai, Thane, Mira Road reported almost 50 per cent more cases. With the MMR alone reporting 4,566 cases, the tally of the state also went up to 5,368 cases.
The Covid-19 graph is going upwards from last week. On Thursday, the city registered 3671 cases after 46,337 tests with TPR of 7.92 per cent. On Wednesday, the city had reported 2,510 new cases with a TPR of 4.8 per cent. The lowest TPR of the second wave was registered at 0.28% on December 1, a month ago when the city reported 108 cases.
