The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced that it will undertake a comprehensive cleanliness drive every 15 days across all its bus stations, station premises, and administrative buildings, as part of efforts to ensure safer and healthier travel for passengers.
According to MSRTC, the initiative aims to improve hygiene standards at ST bus stations while enhancing the overall passenger experience and strengthening the public image of the state-run transport service.
As part of the drive, thorough cleaning will be carried out of seating areas, floors, walls, glass surfaces, toilets, drinking water points, women’s restrooms, and office sections within the bus station premises. The campaign will also focus on the removal of accumulated garbage, unwanted shrubs and vegetation, advertisement boards, cobwebs, and other debris to ensure a cleaner and better-maintained environment.
To improve waste management, separate bins will be provided for proper segregation and disposal of waste. Special emphasis will be placed on maintaining hygiene at drinking water facilities, with instructions issued for their regular cleaning and upkeep to safeguard the health of passengers and staff.
The cleanliness drive will be implemented with the participation of local self-governing bodies, social organisations, students, citizens, as well as MSRTC officials and employees. Responsibility for the strict and effective implementation at each bus station has been assigned to the respective department heads.
MSRTC officials said that conducting the drive every 15 days is expected to significantly improve cleanliness levels at ST bus stations, making them healthier and more passenger-friendly. The initiative is also expected to enhance the quality of services and further strengthen passengers’ confidence in the ST network.
