A week after an ex-Doordarshan employee's death due to tree, two junior kg students were injured after coconut tree fell on their class at JoyMax school in Ghatkopar in Mumbai.
Last week, a former Doordarshan anchor and yoga teacher was knocked down by a coconut tree that fell straight on her head while she was on a morning walk in Chembur. She later succumbed to her injuries. Her husband has blamed the BMC for not permitting the tree to be cut. The incident took place at 8 am on Thursday, when Kanchan Nath (58) was walking near her home. As she walked past Chandroday Society, a coconut tree there came crashing down on her head, knocking her down on the road. Passers-by pulled her out from under the tree and rushed her to hospital. The entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed at a nearby shop.
According to a report in <a title="Coconut trees" href="http://www.hindustantimes.com/mumbai-news/a-week-after-ex-dd-anchor-s-death-another-coconut-tree-falls-in-mumbai-2-kg-students-hurt/story-kOpI4TFKjkFiirdmlLFBXJ.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Hindustan Times</a>, the tree which fell on the school was recently pruned by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). All these incidents have put the BMC&rsquo;s tree pruning exercise under the scanner.
According to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), it had pruned 60,000 trees in the city ahead of monsoon.
