The Mumbai Sessions court on Monday convicted a 41-year-old driver for killing two people on Linking Road in Bandra in February 2013, after he lost control of his speeding Honda Accord in a one-way lane. A total of six vehicles were also damaged in the accident.

The case dates back to February 13, 2014. At 9 am, Barmare was dropping his employer, an Australian national, a legal advisor for a telecom major, to her office in Lower Parel when the accident took place.
The accident Barmare took a wrong turn and ended up in a one-way lane. He lost control of his car and his vehicle first struck an auto rickshaw, killing the driver on the spot and injuring the passenger. The out-of control car then veered sharply and hit a stationary Mahindra XUV, then crashed into a parked BMW and then rammed into a motorbike.
Barmare first dashed into auto driver Chandrakant Tupe (40). Tupe fell out of his auto and was crushed under the speeding car. While a woman passenger in the auto, Mandakini Mode (45) was seriously injured. Later, he dashed a diamond trader Mahesh Ajwani (45), who was on his bike. In the accident Tupe and Ajwani died while Mode and the Australian national suffered injuries.
12 witnessed examined The judge convicted Mubeen Barmare under section 279 (rash driving) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment with fine of Rs 40,000. Mohan Sawant, public prosecutor in the case had examined 12 witnesses in the cases, including eyewitnesses and investigating officers.
