More than one in three children aged 10 to 12 and one in four adolescents aged 13 to 19 have high blood pressure, according to national survey findings cited by Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe at the FDA headquarters on Tuesday.
The findings, from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) and Comprehensive National Nutrition Survey (CNNS), also point to concerns over blood sugar and cholesterol levels among children and adolescents. According to the data cited by Mundhe, 35 per cent of children aged 10 to 12 have high blood pressure, while 25 per cent of adolescents aged 13 to 19 have elevated blood pressure.
