Exactly a month after mid-day reported how the Monorail is turning into a white elephant, another controversy has rocked the so-called mass transport system.

Claiming non-timely payment of salaries, staffers working in the operations went on a day-long strike yesterday without giving prior notice. 56 Customer Service Assistants protested by remaining absent for the day.
'Several people have quit' Speaking to mid-day, one of the protesting employees said that salaries getting delayed by at least two weeks have become a regular affair. “We joined Scomi Engineering thinking that it’s a good opportunity for us to grow. However, several people have quit in the past one year. We have EMIs to pay and expect our salaries on time. But a delay of a fortnight has become the norm in the last few months. We want this practice of delaying salaries to end right away or else there will be a bigger strike in the future,” said one of the protestors.
Despite repeated attempts, none of the officials from Scomi were available for comment.

Stationmasters and management staffers had to operate TVMs and issue tickets in absence of Customer Service Assistants yesterday
