Mumbai: 7-year-old girl dies after falling down elevator shaft in Sion

Her friends immediately raised alarm and Diya was rushed to the Sion Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival

A 7-year-old girl succumbed to serious injuries on Friday after the front door of the elevator suddenly opened on the wrong side and she fell down the shaft. The incident occurred at Om Sai Society, Sion. Cops have registered Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the matter.

On Friday at 6.30pm, Diya Suresh Vinaygam was playing hide and seek with her friends on 4th floor of the building when she accidentally dashed to the front door of the elevator. The front door, that normally had to be pulled open, suddenly opened on the inside and she fell down the shaft. The elevator was on the ground floor.
