As the country’s richest municipal corporation’s, Brihanmumbai Mun-icipal Corporation’s (BMC) budget is announced today, it is learnt that it has utilized only 30% of last year’s budget (2014-2015), which was R31,178 crore. This year, 2015-2016, the budget is estimated to go upto Rs 34,000 crore.

Of the plans in the 2015-2016 budget, the Roads Department is expected to keep a provision of Rs 3,000 crore in its kitty. File pic
