According to the officials, people stranded on the 21st and 22nd floors were rescued by the firemen and taken to the terrace, subsequently, they rescued seven-eight strandees from the 15th floor. Through the staircase, they were taken to the terrace as well. The building, the officials said was a Ground + 21 structure.

The preliminary information revealed that the fire was reported at the Dhavalgiri Building which is located in Grant Road's Kaplaswadi area. The blaze, officials said, broke out at 9.35 am on Friday. By 10.10 am, the officials declared it a level 2 fire and in a later update, they revealed that many persons were stranded. Despite the intensity of the blaze, no injuries have been reported thus far.
Presently, eight Fire Engines, six Jet Tanks, one Breathing Apparatus (BA) Van, one Hydraulic Platform (HP), one Turntable Ladder (TTL), one Highrise Van, one Divisional Officer (DO), and one Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) are deployed on-site to manage the situation.
The officials in their previous notification had said that the fire was confined to the 11th and 12th floors, however, later said that the fire was confined to the 8th and 12th floors. They added that the blaze had damaged electric wiring, electric installation, furniture, doors, household articles, etc.
Meanwhile, in another incident from the city, a fire had broken out in an industrial estate in the western suburb of Malad, stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Mumbai Fire Brigade. According to MFB, the fire broke out at 9.38 pm in a ground + one structure on Ramchandra Lane of the estate on Thursday night and was contained by 12.37 am on Friday.
MFB stated that the fire was confined to the first floor and affected electric wiring, electric installations, as well as stocks of clothes, leather bags, trolley bags, a lith machine, and plastic granules. Fortunately, in the incident, no one was injured. However, the cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet.
Recently, the city and metropolitan region saw many incidents of fire. In an incident from Thane district, a cotton yarn manufacturing unit had caught fire. The unit, located in Bhiwandi's Osia Mata Compound was charred after it caught fire around 9.35 earlier this week. Fire brigade units from Thane and Kalyan arrived to assist the Bhiwandi fire brigade with the blaze.
