BEST strike pushes Mumbai Metro ridership up as commuters switch tracks

While the Blue Line 1 witnessed 38,000 more ridership, the Aqua Line Metro 3 saw a notable increase of 30,214 commuters

The five Metro corridors operational across Mumbai saw a spike in passenger counts on Friday as compared to other days as the commuters flocked to the stations amid the strike called by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST).

The five Metro lines operational in the city and suburbs include the Blue Line 1 from Versova to Ghatkopar; Yellow Line 2 from DN Nagar to Dahisar; Yellow Line 2 from Mandale to Diamond Garden; Aqua Line 3 from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade; and the Red Line 7 from Gundavli to Kashimira.
