Even physical distancing was not being maintained at the venue

The city is under strict restrictions due to COVID-19 but some people continue to flout them. Even as 25 people are allowed to attend marriage ceremonies, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had to act against a hall where at least 150 people were present for a wedding. Action was also taken against the families involved.

The D ward office received information, that a marriage ceremony was on in violation of the rules, on Friday in the Cultural Hall at Dadiseth Marg near Babulnath Temple. A team from the ward office went to the spot and found that about 150 people were present. Physical distance as required in the rules was not being maintained between the persons. Action was thus initiated and a fine of Rs 50,000 imposed on the hall management.

“An FIR was registered against the management of the hall, and the groom and bride, and their families at Gavdevi police station for violating the rules,” informed the Assistant Commissioner of D ward, Prashant Gaikwad.
