BMC issues seizure notices to several property tax defaulters, says outstanding amounts range from Rs 18 cr to over Rs 140 cr

According to an official statement, despite repeated reminders and the availability of online payment facilities, several large number of defaulters have not paid their dues. As a result, seizure notices have been served, including penalty amounts

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued property seizure notices to number of major defaulters who have failed to pay their property taxes despite having the financial capacity, officials said.

The action has been taken under Section 203 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, civic officials said.
